AmaZulu Community Trust & Defy Launch

20 February 2013

th

The AmaZulu Community Trust and Defy have joined hands in a bid to tackle an ailing component of schools' sport participation in KZN with the Defy Community Development Program which was launched on Wednesday, 20th Feb 2013 in Durban.

According to the AmaZulu Community Trust Chairman, Lunga Sokhela the partnership between the country's leading electric appliance company and the recently formed CSI unit will roll out educational programs which will empower teachers to pass valuable knowledge on a variety of topics to learners.

“Defy have come today to partner with the Trust in what will surely be  a great initiative among  20 schools from Durban, Ezakheni and East London areas.

DEFY has also shown interest in educational funding that will assist really talented youngsters to attend a top school in Durban whilst being looked after the Trust,” said Sokhela.

In the past the Trust has assisted in a plethora of grassroots community development initiatives which Sokhela believes will now ensure that their helping hand reaches more than football's critical needs.

Defy's Head of Marketing and Strategic Planning, Mike Hobbs said they have confidence that all the 20 participating schools will grab the opportunities with both hands.

The door also remains for the KZN Social Development Department, the Sport & Recreation Department and the private sector to collaborate with the Trust in somewhat alleviating unemployment, social inequalities and poverty through youth development programs.
